The 3M™ Microfinishing Film Roll 362L quickly cuts, shapes, and polishes, delivering close-tolerance finishes for precision tooling and machining applications. Available in 9-100 micron grades, aluminum oxide is electrostatically oriented and bonded to a polyester film backing. A Type S (smooth) backsize coating provides slip resistance for microfinishing machines. The 3M Microfinishing Film Roll 362L achieves close tolerances by way of a uniform film backing and micron-graded abrasive grain. The abrasive mineral is distributed precisely and uniformly over the backing, which helps produce a consistent, predictable finish each time. The 3M Microfinishing Roll is commonly used to produce industrial components like custom flanges and fittings for the oil and gas industry. Automotive parts, like crankshafts, camshafts, and transmission parts must meet critical geometrical tolerances and exacting finish requirements. Manufacturers also rely on the microfinishing films for precision machining of steel printing components, dyes for industrial equipment and supplies, and CNC machining parts. The uniform thickness of film provides a far more consistent backing for the precise application of resins and micron-graded mineral. The polyester is helpful when close tolerances are important. In conjunction with high tolerance machines, the abrasive can consistently produce high tolerance parts and finishes consistently. 3M Microfinishing Film Roll 362L was engineered by bonding fine micron-graded aluminum oxide mineral to the film backing. Due to the fine grade ranges, it's visually difficult to distinguish one grade from another, and because some applications may require multiple grits on the same machine simultaneously, the microfinishing film is colour-coded to help avoid errors.
