The 3M™ Interam™ Endothermic Mat E-5A-4 is composed of a combination of materials, including ceramic fibres and inorganic endothermic material. In the event of fire, they help prevent heat penetration via a chemical reaction that absorbs heat energy.The 3M Interam Endothermic Mat is non-flame supporting and offers low smoke evolution, making it an excellent fire barrier for structural steel and electrical circuitry. This mat is composed of a combination of organic and inorganic materials, and includes an aluminium backing. These advanced endothermic materials contain chemically bound water, helping to prevent heat penetration via a chemical reaction which absorbs heat energy. The endothermic mat blocks heat penetration by chemically absorbing heat energy to protect structural steel, cable trays and circuits in conduits. It can provide up to 4 hours of protection for structural steel and up to 3 hours of electrical circuit protection.
